Wingsy

Wingsy: Avian Adventures

Wingsy is a 3D flight game about being a bird. Pick one of twelve real species, take off from a telephone wire, and spend a day in the life of a small farming village: hunting, gliding, perching and getting home before dark.

No download needed. Works with mouse and keyboard, a gamepad or a touch screen. Wingsy is in active development, so expect changes along the way.

The story

Dawn breaks over Moshav Kanafayim, a sleepy farming village of tile-roofed houses, poultry sheds, pecan groves and banana plantations. To the people who live there it is an ordinary morning. To the birds it is a whole world.

You begin perched on the central telephone wires above Swallow Ave. From there the village opens up below you. The swallows sweep for midges over the horse paddocks. A kingfisher watches the Garden Pond. Crows patrol the asphalt for nuts, and a jay keeps a secret map of every pecan it has ever buried.

Each species lives by its own rules, and each one has an ancestral nest hidden somewhere in the village. Find the nests, learn how every bird eats, flies and hides, and take on six story quests that only the right bird can finish. The day turns to golden hour, then dusk, then night, when the stone-curlew comes out to hunt.

Twelve birds, twelve ways to live

Every bird flies on its real wingspan, weight and wing area, so a 7 gram prinia and a 500 gram crow feel nothing alike. Pick one to read its field-guide page.

An indie game

Wingsy is made independently, without a publisher or investors. It runs in the browser on WebGL, on a laptop, a phone or a tablet. Two birds are open to everyone; sign in to fly all 12.

A lot of care goes into the details: real bird recordings from the xeno-canto community, flight physics built on each species' real measurements, and a village with a full day and night cycle. The game is playable in English and Hebrew.

Wingsy is in active development. Sign-in and cloud saves are available. Multiplayer is in development. See the roadmap for what is coming next.
